Stillness & Strength

16–18 October 2026 · £1,100 pp (£800 sharing) · Godwick Hall, Norfolk

REGISTER

A weekend of traditional Hatha Yoga, breathing practices, time in nature and thoughtful reflection. The retreat explores how stillness and sustained attention can help release unnecessary tension, develop greater stability and deepen your relationship with the body and breath.

Limited to a maximum of 15 guests, so that each person can receive individual attention. The retreat is open to different levels of experience — you do not need to be advanced in yoga. The important thing is a willingness to practise attentively and explore the work with some depth.

Godwick Hall from above

Programme

This retreat offers an introduction to a form of practice that is physically engaging, deeply attentive and genuinely restorative. Through sustained postures, conscious breathing, meditation in movement and periods of stillness, you will explore how the quality of your attention changes the way you use effort, respond to sensation and experience the body.

The emphasis is not simply on what you do, but on how you do it. By practising with greater awareness, you begin to recognise where effort is useful, where tension is unnecessary and how strength and release can exist together.

The retreat is designed to help you:

  • feel stronger and move more freely
  • recognise and release unnecessary physical tension
  • improve balance, mobility and body awareness
  • breathe with greater ease
  • develop a more stable response to stress
  • experience deeper rest and recovery
  • understand how attention changes the quality of practice
  • return home with methods you can continue using

The purpose is not simply to feel better for a weekend. It is to develop a clearer understanding of how posture, breathing, stillness and sustained attention can support your health and influence how you meet daily life.

The practice

The weekend brings together traditional Hatha Yoga, breathing practices, stillness, time in nature and thoughtful reflection. Rather than moving quickly through a large number of techniques, the focus will be on exploring a smaller number of practices with depth and precision.

Hatha Yoga

The Hatha Yoga sessions combine strength, mobility, stillness and sustained attention. You will explore how to work with effort without becoming rigid, how to remain present when the body is challenged and how to distinguish useful effort from unnecessary tension — helping you feel stronger, move more freely and develop a more intelligent relationship with your body.

Breathing practices

The breathing practices support concentration, energy, recovery and a steadier response to pressure. You will explore how the rhythm, depth and quality of the breath influence your physiology, attention and state of mind — making the breath something you can use practically, both within yoga practice and in daily life.

Stillness

Stillness is not treated as an absence of practice. It is a way of becoming more aware of what is happening in the body, breath and mind. Through stillness, you begin to notice habitual effort, mental activity and the ways you respond automatically to discomfort or pressure — creating more choice in how you respond.

Meditation in movement

The value of a practice lies not only in the posture or exercise itself, but in the quality of attention brought to it. Movement becomes meditative when it is approached with sensitivity, precision and full awareness — changing the practice from something you perform into something you experience directly.

Time in nature

Godwick Hall is surrounded by 80 acres of secluded parkland. Time outdoors gives the weekend a wider rhythm and provides space to walk, reflect and absorb the effects of the practice.

Reflection & philosophy

There will also be time to explore the ideas behind the practice and how they apply beyond the yoga mat. The purpose is not to collect more information, but to understand how greater awareness can influence the way you move, breathe, rest and respond in daily life.

The approach

This is not a passive spa weekend, but neither is it designed to exhaust you. The practice is central, with enough space around it to rest, eat well, spend time outdoors and enjoy being away from ordinary responsibilities. The weekend will feel substantial and restorative: physically engaging, mentally absorbing and spacious enough for the effects of the practice to be felt.

Accommodation

The retreat is held at Godwick Hall and Stables, a luxurious Georgian manor in Norfolk set in a magical 80 acres of secluded parkland. There are five double bedrooms in the Hall and three in the Stables, with three that can be arranged as twins. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are beautifully furnished and individually designed. The Master Suites in both Hall and Stables are very special, with four-poster beds — the one in the Hall has a roll-top bath, and the one in the Stables has French doors leading to the garden.

The facilities include a swimming pool, outdoor sauna, outdoor table tennis, croquet, a private landscaped garden and acres of parkland to explore.

Body & Breath: A 5-Day Immersion

31 October – 5 November 2026 · From £1,250 pp (shared) · Vélez Blanco, Almería, Spain

REGISTER

How you breathe and how you hold your body affects how you feel — and most of it goes unnoticed.

Breathing a little too fast. Carrying more tension than necessary. Moving in patterns that have become automatic. Over time, this becomes your ‘normal’.

This immersion brings attention back to something simple: how you breathe, how you hold your body, and how you use your energy. The practices work synergistically — the breath influences the body, the body affects the breath, and together they shape the state of the mind.

When this is trained in a clear and structured way, change happens quickly and becomes usable.

Body & Breath immersion

Programme

Each day centres around a small number of practices, repeated and refined so they become clear and usable. It follows a clear progression — beginning with awareness, so you notice how you breathe, how you hold your body and where tension is held; then, with practice, your breathing slows, you become more embodied and let go of unnecessary effort.

You leave with a clearer sense of how to:

  • breathe more slowly and with greater ease
  • release unnecessary tension in the body
  • recognise when you are moving into stress
  • regulate yourself through breath and posture
  • feel more energised, capable and at ease in your body

A practical method you can continue using in daily life. You go home inspired and confident to continue.

Pranayama

Simple, structured breathing practices that increase and harness energy and develop awareness and control of the breath.

Hatha Yoga & posture

Movement and posture work to reduce unnecessary tension, improve how the body is aligned and help you feel more — while supporting more efficient breathing.

Functional breathing

Exercises and breath holds to improve breathing efficiency, CO₂ tolerance and control.

Rest & integration

Time is set aside each day to lie down, observe the body and allow the practice to settle.

Optional

A hike is included during the week, and a beach trip is also available. Transport can be arranged at an additional cost of €40 return. Open to all levels, including those new to yoga and breathing practices — best suited to those who respond well to structure and consistent practice.

Accommodation

The venue is Finca del Álamo, a quiet and well-designed space that supports the practice with simplicity and comfort. All bedrooms and practice spaces are air conditioned, providing a comfortable environment throughout.

Rooms range from ensuite doubles and twins in the main finca — including a four-poster with views — to ensuite rooms in the Cortijo apartments, some with a small kitchen and sitting area. A single-room upgrade and four-poster room are available by supplement.

Location

The retreat takes place on the edge of Cabo de Gata, one of the most remote and unspoiled stretches of coastline in Europe. The landscape is raw and expansive, with volcanic rock formations, quiet coves and open sea.

Nutrition

All meals are included — gluten and oat free, and designed to support energy and digestion — with structured hydration throughout the day.

We can cater for dietary requirements.

Getting there & away

By air: the nearest airport is Almería, about 30 minutes from the venue. Málaga is also an option, around 2.5 hours away, with a wider range of international flights. Transfers from Almería can be arranged, and shared transport coordinated where possible. Flights are not included.

Venue: Hoya del Serval area, 04830 Vélez Blanco, Almería, Spain.

Deepening Practice

27–29 November 2026 · £700 pp (£600 sharing) · Skendleby Hall, Lincolnshire

REGISTER

Deepen your practice. Refine your understanding. Return to the foundations of Hatha Yoga with greater precision.

This weekend is for anyone who wants to investigate Hatha Yoga through posture, breath, stillness and sustained attention. Through asana, pranayama, backbending, discussion and guided reflection, we will examine how breath, posture and attention work together, and how the quality of practice changes when we stop simply performing techniques and begin to understand them more fully.

The emphasis is not on accumulating more postures or pushing the body further. It is on developing sensitivity, precision and a clearer understanding of what you are doing, why you are doing it and how to work in a way that supports both depth and longevity.

The weekend offers uninterrupted time to practise, ask questions, reflect and deepen your own experience of Hatha Yoga. It is for practitioners and teachers who want to investigate the practice in greater depth. You do not need to be physically advanced, but you should be familiar with yoga and interested in working with attention, precision and depth.

Skendleby Hall

Programme

The retreat is designed to help you:

  • deepen your understanding of traditional Hatha Yoga
  • refine your approach to asana and pranayama
  • understand the relationship between breath, movement and attention
  • work more intelligently with effort, sensation and stillness
  • develop greater confidence in backbending
  • recognise when technique becomes strain
  • bring breathing physiology into pranayama without losing its traditional purpose
  • return to your own practice with greater clarity

The intention is not simply to practise more intensely for a weekend. It is to improve the quality of your practice and give you principles that remain useful long after the retreat has ended.

The practice

The weekend brings together asana, pranayama, backbending, stillness, discussion and guided exploration. Each part is connected: work with posture informs the breath, the breath informs attention, and stillness reveals how the effects of practice continue after movement has stopped. The approach is detailed and experiential — time to repeat, question and understand rather than rushing through techniques.

Asana

The asana practice explores strength, mobility, stability and stillness within posture. We look closely at how you organise the body, where effort is required and where unnecessary tension limits movement — not simply achieving a shape, but how you enter, inhabit and leave the posture. Working with precision makes the practice more sustainable, more informative and more deeply connected to awareness.

Backbending

Backbending is approached progressively and intelligently. Rather than forcing range of movement, we explore the relationship between strength, mobility, breath and support through the whole body — how to prepare, how to distribute effort more effectively, and how to work near your edge without overriding sensation.

Pranayama

Pranayama is explored as both a traditional yogic discipline and a practical way of influencing energy, concentration and mental state. We bring a clear understanding of breathing physiology, breath volume and CO₂ tolerance into the practice — not to reduce pranayama to physiology, but to work with traditional techniques more accurately and with less unnecessary strain.

Stillness & attention

Stillness is central to the weekend. It allows us to experience the effects of posture and breath without immediately moving on, and to notice the habits that become visible when activity stops. By bringing sustained attention to movement, breath and sensation, asana becomes more than physical exercise — it becomes a form of meditation in movement.

Discussion & inquiry

There will be time to explore the principles behind the practice, ask questions and consider how the work applies to your own body and experience. The aim is not to impose a single method, but to help you understand the reasoning behind the work so you can make more intelligent, independent choices in your own practice.

The approach

The teaching will be demanding in the sense that it asks for attention, honesty and sustained engagement. It is not based on pushing the body for the sake of intensity. There will be periods of strong practice, but also stillness, discussion, rest and time to absorb the work — designed to challenge habitual ways of practising while giving you a clearer, more sustainable foundation from which to continue.
